Trachtenburg Slideshow Players

So since we now have Wide Open West instead of Comcast, Q has been watching Noggin in the morning instead of Sprout. Not only do I LOVE Noggin for her and find the only super annoying shows to be Dora and Go, Diego, Go, I have been introduced to and am currently mildly obsessed with the Trachtenburg Slideshow Players.

Basically, they are a family consisting of mother, father, and 12 year old daughter who are modern day vaudevillians in a sense. All of their music is inspired by vintage slide collections purchased from flea markets and estate sales (We have something in common! See previous post). So they make this kind of unique indie music and when they perform, they play the slideshows in the background. How absolutely wonderful is that??

It reminded me of a band my husband told me about I think from the 60's or 70's? It was a band comprised of several kids and possibly the parents as well. In any case, most if not all of them were deficient in both tone and rhythm, however their parents kept coaxing them to perform and record songs. The only song I heard by them made me feel like I was silently going insane. In a good way though! I will need to post their name if I can get it from the hubby.

Anyway, all good stuff. I likes. Lots. Buy their DVD if you'd like to likes as well...

Sheeeeeezzzz Crafty!

Ahhh, gotta love the Beastie Boys. Ok, kinda getting my craft on a little. I laid out this tray to Modpodge tonight. Was going to paint first then Modpodge, but I didn't feel like hauling my paints out. Maybe it won't be such a chore after we finish our basement (AHHHHH) which won't be until the summer I'd bet, but the dream is there, my friends. The dream is there. Cuz you bet your A there will be a craft room down there! With soundproof walls and no phone and a lock on the door. And an organizing center to put all my wrapping paper...and a stand for my paper cutter...and a bookshelf...and my metal top farm table...and....

Anyway, tomorrow is hump day (huh huh), so that's good. Maybe I'll be able to slap a few coats on that tray tomorrow. Oh, but I ordered supplies for my Polaroid Emulsion stuff, so that's somethin' too I guess. Ok, dears. Bon soir!

Monday Blahs

Ho hum. Another Monday to muddle through. A bright and shiny part of my day, however, was the sunny package I received! A shoe order for Baby Girl Q from Piperlime. Look at the 'dorable packaging! They wrapped each box of shoes in brown tissue paper affixed with a lil' lime sticker. I'm easily amused, I can't help it. It's the little things I suppose.

I need to get crafting...tomorrow. I'm working on some more ideas and need to dig out my DayLab Jr. to start on some photo emulsion pics. My friend, Dave, loaned me some rad old slides from the 60's to use as subject. Also in the works, some modpodged trays, retro-ish portable placemats for the kiddies, more magnets, and a curious owl diorama...with mushrooms! Oh joy.

In entertainment news, I am still reeling from tonight's episode of Prison Break. Sara and Michael will be together next week! I can hardly wait. You should all know now that I am indeed a television junkie. Tivo is my savior. I watch way too many shows religiously-- PB, Lost, The Office, 30 Rock, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, Monk, SNL, just to name a few. I resist watching Grey's Anatomy just to say I don't watch it. How juvenile, I know.

Anyway, I'm going to bed with visions of Wentworth Miller dancing in my head (sigh).

My First Sale!

What a wonderful day...brunch with the hubby and kid at Pronto-- (Q and I shared french toast with bananas and berries), then to the mall for some wonderful cosmetics shopping. Funny how I never get tired of buying makeup or shoes...hmmm. Then home to play with Q before bedtime and VOILA! A sale. My first. My Retro Stripey Valentine Pail bought by Amanda in Missouri. Or "Missourah" as my 6th grade teacher used to say. Can you tell I'm happy about this sale? I know, a bit pathetic, but maybe endearing as well?

So Mr. Stripey Pants Pail is ready to go with a few tiny teeny extras: a few treats and a tiny mushroom notecard made by yours truly with glassine envelope NOT made by me. Yay.

P.S. Even though I'm usually a die hard Bobbi Brown fan, I just bought Buxom Lips by Bare Escentuals, Candi, Brow Zings (I was a leming-- another customer swore by it) and this lovely blush from Benefit (I can't resist their cute retro packaging), but I did buy my favorite eyeshadows but in two new colors, Raisin and Sterling from BB...will review and post results!

Welcome to Girl Land

Wow, I guess I feel compelled to blog! I'm feeling rather uninspired as of late. I'm hoping this will help me channel some creativity.

I have been posting a few items on Etsy for about 1.5 weeks now with no sales. Yes, my items are rather unsophisticated and have an air of hurriedness to them, but hey, I work 40 hours a week and have a 1 year old. I just wanted to be on the other end of the handmade frenzy-- usually it's me robotically and frantically searching for a OOAK treasure. I only make things that I would be 100% giddy to find someone else making, so isn't that a plus?

Anywho, here I am. I've been waiting patiently for my new shop banner and logo. I'm hoping that may make me look less like a crafting vagabond and more like a crafting POWERHOUSE. I've been promised by Rakel that she will get to me next week when she has more time to focus...we'll see because I'm getting discouraged.

That's all for now, you crazy kids. I'm writing that like I expect someone to be reading this. TTFN
