The Cure for Melancholy

Feast your eyes on these Japanese fabrics and items from Superbuzzy! Just received their most recent email newsletter. I think it may quite be impossible to look at these things and NOT feel happy.

And I think that Shinzi Katoh was directing this one right at me! :)

One more happy item that I've ever-so-slyly hinted to my hubby and mother that I want for my b-day in July:

When birthday cake is your favorite food, it's only appropriate to own a cake CARRIER, no?!

Oh, and happy Cinco de Mayo! I would love a nice salty-rimmed margarita right now. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Maybe I will enjoy one with my hubby tonight instead of going to Jazzercise. I've been a Jazzer-slacker this week, and I haven't been to class in over a week. Bah. Last week, I could blame my lower back issues, but this week, I have no physical excuse. Luckily, my bud will be joining me next week which will give me some incentive (I'm counting on you, Danielle!).

xoxoxoxoo
P.S. Wish me luck-- I bought 5 Powerball tickets for tonight's drawing. My favorite number is 5, and I just noticed the date today is 5/5/10!!!!! I never buy lotto tix. Maybe today's my lucky day!!!

3 Little Girls

3 Little Girls
Originally uploaded by Girl Land
I made these for my mom for Xmas. Bought her a generic necklace (which she got early), a very boring but completely utilitarian Snug cami (invented by a Detroiter!) and then these lovely little girls: V, Q and Cousin Sophie.

She puts little knickknacks up on her windowsill above her kitchen sink, so these will fit in nicely. I am also thinking about making her a shadowbox home too. Maybe for Mother's Day...to be continued.

Crafternoon was yesterday, and it was fun. Not a ton of people, but still a good time and I did sell a little bit. Will be posting much of the stuff in the shop even though some of it's Christmas, and it's a little late for Xmas stuff!

Today was a pajama day. Didn't get out of my pajamas. No shower either (ew, right?). But it was lovely! Painted these girlies, mixed some batches of reindeer food (oatmeal + glitter) and made some reindeer candy canes out of poms, google eyes and pipe cleaners for Q's daycare buds.

Feeling ambitious? You may be after you see this way cute project. My lovely Aunt Judy sent me a link to this felt mushroom tutorial courtesy of Pink Chalk Fabrics. I loves my toadstools!

Kawaii? Because Girl Land Loves You!

So I got a little kawaii with the packaging for my stuff for Crafternoon next weekend.

Still need to come up with something for my strawberry earrings. I love how GL Bunny is popping her head up. Silently and creepily lurking in the background. Kinda reminds me of the King (I love that ad campaign something fierce-- I am not sure if I'm the only one...).

Also decided to make some appliques, but I couldn't decide if I should put them on a tote, shirt or what, SOOOOO I came up with G.L.I.Y. or Girl Land It Yourself! More cute packaging and peeking GL Bunny in a festive snow cap courtesy of one of my fave time-wasters ever, Picnik!

Hope you had a fabulous weekend. Mine in a nutshell: crafting, Xmas cards, ballet, birthday dinner, lotsa wine, late-night buzzed Xmas shopping, crock pot chili, Jungle Java (bleh), baby book filling-out, photo printing, crafty packaging, annnnnnd scene.

Have a great week! xo

Jazz Hands

I'm sooooooooooooo excited!!!! I'm actually LIKING exercise lately what with the Wii Fit and my newest obsession. Can you guess? I'll give you a hint...I might have to buy this from Every Little Count's Etsy shop to wear to class:

It's Jazzercise! It's soooo entirely fun. I was actually looking forward to class today (what the frig?). Their new building is just 5 minutes from my house too. I had no idea what to expect, but I looked on the Jazzercise website, and figured out it's basically aerobics but kinda more dancey. The songs are all newer REAL songs (sung by the real people), and it's so fun. I was sold when they started playing Untouched by The Veronicas (I love that song!). Plus, I'm getting to know a new friend which is always nice.

Other tidbits from this week

-I've been getting an Etsy package like every day! Today it was a bib for V's party Saturday (pic to come Saturday) and another from my newest Etsy obsession, Retro NaNa. Hold onto your hats-- I seriously almost hyperventilated over all the cuteness. Look at just a few things that I bought!

Those CD labels are beautiful. I don't know if I will ever be able to part with them.

-Wide Awake Chapter 49 is up!!!! Some very good/funny parts. I'm patiently waiting for the unavoidable smut. She has to take us out on a smutty note. Too much angst, not enough dirty stuff. No, but in all seriousness, I love love LOVE the story so much. So sad there is only 1 chappy to go + epilogue. Boooooooo.

-Lost was sooooooooooooooooo good tonight! Although I'm sad. Can't say any more...I cried. I admit it.

-Preparing for Viv's party this weekend. The 'rents are coming early to help me around the house and to help me with my YARD which looks horrendous.

Happy Hump Day, y'all! xo

Obsession

My obsession with Japanese fabric continues...
I just purchased these from Matatabi's Etsy shop. I just keep compiling fabrics for Q's fantasy quilt. I have no idea if they are going to flow or what. My aunt will have to decide from my ever-growing pile!!! Most of what I have are hedgehog/mushroom prints and I thought the bows above and just a small pink polka dot on white would be good too as accent pieces. To be continued...
