Yes, I'm trying to be like Nicole with my mockup thing-a-majig. Falling a tad short.
We've modified the look a bit from my initial thought, but it still has that mid-century thang going on. Lots of repro stuff, but that's all we can justify in the basement. The clock was my grandparent's. I love it!
I'm even going nutball with the laundry room. That sneaky peek is coming soon to a computer near you.

Oooh, I can't wait to see! I am right now drawing up plans and buying fabric for a dramatic shift in our living room. Our house is very midcentury mod, flat roof and all! So our furniture is all very mod 50s-60s. I am taking the color scheme from burgundy/red, brown and tan to ORANGE brown and tan! Fun! And much for in the style of our house! I'm interested to know how IKEA furniture holds up to wear because I have had terrible experiences and don't think I would trust an IKEA couch. Is your basement a main living space or is it more just an occasional hang-out?
