Michonne is My Spirit Animal

For some reason, Buzzfeed is NOT latching onto my recently created quiz-- "Which 'The Walking Dead' Character is Your Spirit Animal?"  WAHHHHHH.

I've been tweeting back and forth with Cullen Moss (the guy who played the rapey lollipop cop), and if it is really him, he's pretty cool!  We shall see if he takes my quiz.

Anywho, comment on who you got!  In conclusion, let's take a look at my favorite TWD meme.

Zombie Heaven

Isn’t this kind of an oxymoron? Like since they are undead, aren’t they pretty much in purgatory? But maybe they would go to heaven if they incurred a blow to the head and officially died without the taste of human brains or flesh passing their lips. I think I just blew my own mind.

So even more than VAMPIRES, I know I have declared my love of zombies. Ryan bought me House of the Dead for Wii for my birthday (what a romantic). Not sure it can measure up to Dead Rising which I finished about 2 months ago and LOVED. Cuz there’s just nothing that can measure up to being able to impale a zombie on a spinning excavator while killing other zombies with his spinning body. I just added my profile to Filming in Detroit as a potential (unpaid of course) extra and was sure to note that any work as a zombie would be preferential. Ha!

More zombie goodness:

+Zombieland opens October 9! I think it looks hilarious—especially the part where the zombie bride tackles the groom. That Emma Stone is such a cutie too.

+World War Z opens sometime next year and will be directed by Marc Forster who also directed Stranger Than Fiction, one of my all-time faves! My bro and SIL gave me the World War Z book + the companion Zombie Survival Guide (which is great!) for my b-day LAST year. I need to get crackin’ on it!

+This may be more vampirey, but I still find this shirt very hilarious. I added it to my birthday wishlist, but my mom told me it was gross and too weird to wear to Jazzercise, and she wasn’t buying it. Am I freaking you out yet?

+I am a regular shopper at Tinaseamonster's Etsy shop. There are no words to describe Tina's genius. Two of my favorite things colliding-- just like peanut butter and chocolate in a Reese's cup:

+Last, but certainly not least, is Len’s Zombie Alphabet that I found via Junior Society. Sweeeeeeet!

Hope you are having a marvelously zombie-riffic week!! Give me a shout out if you also love the zombies!!!! xo

Oh the Horror

You may know of my love of the horror genre. I am a nut over all things creepy & scary. My favorite movie of all time is 28 Days Later (followed verrrrry closely by A Patch of Blue with Sidney Poitier and To Kill a Mockingbird).

So in addition to my brother's Fangoria magazines, there is one particularly cheesy video from 1986 to which I can attribute my infatuation. Scared the bejesus out of me at the time-- mainly the part where they find the bodies. Now it scares me for a whole set of different reasons (eesh, the 80s are scary in their own right). Anyone remember this one-hit wonder?

A couple more things are making me giddy. NBC's new show on Thursday nights called Fear Itself. Each week is a mini movie from different horror directors/writers. I must say, it was pretty good.

Also, I think I mentioned I watched Season 1 of Dexter which was on CBS. Well, I couldn't wait for Season 2 to be released on DVD in August, so I downloaded all the episodes on Amazon Unbox and watched all 12 in like 3-1/2 days. SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. Pam, you were right! It was great.

Oh, also Ryan bought me The Orphanage for Mother's Day. Niiiiice, right?

Can't wait to see M. Night's new one too. Not so much horror, but creepy nonetheless.

Random (Non-Crafty) Tids & Bits

-When Ryan called me this morning to say he’d been in a car accident, I was going to kill him because I thought it was April Fools. It wasn’t! Luckily, he’s ok (back’s a little sore), but his poor car is not. Sounds like it was equal fault, so I’m a tad worried about our insurance going up, but at least it wasn’t more serious. I’m thanking my lucky stars, believe me.

+My dear friend, Amy, is being induced as we speak! Poor girl is a week past her due date. The suspense is killing me. She doesn’t know girl or boy. Either way, I’m going to make her one of these.

-My neighbor’s (BIG) shed is about to blow over into our yard. I want to call Code Enforcement, but he’ll know it’s me. When he moved in, I told him I used to call Code Enforcement on the previous owner all the time (he was an old, mean drunk, and let his grass grow to be 2 feet tall). And I don’t think I should have to ASK him to fix the problem. Fer cryin’ out loud!

+New Kids on the Block are going to be on the Today Show Friday at 7:00 am. Set your Tivos! My mom is convinced it’s going to be embarrassing. We shall see.

+We don’t owe a ton on our taxes (sigh of relief). I was worried because this year Ryan is a shareholder in his company, and we’d paid estimated taxes throughout the year.
Wasn’t sure I’d estimated enough. This is the first year I haven’t done Turbo Tax, and we actually hired an accountant. I love the man. Next, paying off all our credit card debt! Whoo hoo!

+Another man I love? The NPH. Nuff said.

-We saw I Am Legend this past weekend. Was so disappointed! The 1954 book was about vampires, so I thought I’d get my Dracula on. The new interpretation was a really BAD rip off of 28 Days Later (which is quite possibly my favorite movie of all time, so don’t even try to mess with it). Plus, the CGI zombies and animals were soooooo fake- looking. Gads.

+Maroon 5 & Counting Crows are coming to town in August! Battle of the Adams!

?Justin and Madonna have a new song out together called 4 Minutes. Not sure how I feel about it quite yet…

?Trying to decide when I want to be done with work. My c-section is scheduled for Thurs, May 1. Should I work up until the end? Or should I take a few days to relax and hang out with Q??? Help me out, kids!!!

Ok, sorry for the wordy (=boring) post. That’s just me in a nutshell for now. Hope you’re all having a great week! xo

It's Okay to be Worried About Zombies

Some people know about my fixation with zombies and horror movies in general. It's hard to explain my fascination. I think it started with my being coerced into watching Friday the 13th when I was 8 years old and Poltergeist shortly thereafter. Or it could have been stumbling across my brother's Fangoria magazines which scared the bejesus out of me (I like this definition of bejesus by the way) but intrigued me at the same time. My taste in horror movies and zombie movies are probably not viewed as very sophisticated, but that's alright. I likes what I likes and I won't likes no more (or less)!!!

I stumbled across Tina's Etsy Shop one fine February day and had to ask her to make Q and I quasi-matching zombie shirts. I am embarrassed to say that on more than one occasion, I have thought, "What if zombies became an epidemic? I can't run very fast...maybe I'd just let them eat me...hmmmm..." Long story short, we received the tees today, I love them, and Q did too. She won't be able to wear it for awhile-- I ordered big, but we tied it over her shoulders and she meandered around the house and played (with it on her) for a solid 45 minutes before bed tonight. I think she, one day, may also worry about zombies. I want her to know that it's okay! It's a valid concern.

To round out this post, I shall list off to you 6 of my favorite zombie movies (I WON'T apologize for not including the original Dawn of the Dead or Evil Dead, see 1st paragraph) and 10 of my favorite horror movies (ditto for not including The Shining, The Exorcist, etc.). This is, by no means, a comprehensive list, but just a taste of movies that at some point or another affected my bejesus:

ZOMBIE MOVIES: 1. 28 Days Later (2002) 2. Night of the Living Dead (1968) 3. Dawn of the Dead (2004) 4. Night of the Living Dead (1990) 5. Shaun of the Dead (2004) 6. Land of the Dead (2005)

HORROR MOVIES: 1. The Haunting (1963) 2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) 3. Halloween (1978) 4. Halloween II (1981) 5. House on Haunted Hill (1999) 6. Waxwork (1988) 7. House of Wax (2005) 8. Children of the Corn (1984) 9. Frailty (2001) 10. Carrie (1976).
