Michonne is My Spirit Animal

For some reason, Buzzfeed is NOT latching onto my recently created quiz-- "Which 'The Walking Dead' Character is Your Spirit Animal?"  WAHHHHHH.

I've been tweeting back and forth with Cullen Moss (the guy who played the rapey lollipop cop), and if it is really him, he's pretty cool!  We shall see if he takes my quiz.

Anywho, comment on who you got!  In conclusion, let's take a look at my favorite TWD meme.

Mindy Project Quiz!

I'm such a nerd.  My hubby was out of town and I made a bunch of quizzes on Buzzfeed.  The first one was "Which "The Mindy Project" Character is your Soulmate?"

Source:  Fox
And guess what?  It got promoted to the front page of Buzzfeed yesterday!  As of right now, it's gotten 206,139 views which I think is kind of amusing.  Who am I kidding, my inner nerd is FLIPPING OUT.  ACK!  What accolades do I get for such an accomplishment??  Nada.  Zip, zilch.  Pbbbt.  Notoriety for having a good quiz?  I'll take it!  If anyone from Buzzfeed wants to hire me, hit me up.  I'm the biggest pop culture junkie you'll ever meet.  Ok, maybe the 3rd biggest.

Buzzfeed did change a few of my answers, but in retrospect, I guess I understand.  For example, my question was "Describe Yourself", and one of my answers was "I'm a caramel princess", a direct quote from last week's ep, "Caramel Princess Time".  But it was watered down to "I'm a princess".  I get it, Buzzfeed, I get it.

Anyway, take it, and if anyone is still reading this thing (since I haven't posted in like 2 years), comment and tell me who you got!

P.S.  I have a big post scheduled for tomorrow...waiting to see if I can offer a free download from someone.  I am gonna give this blogging thing another whirl.

And a Partridge in a...

I want to take a picture of every spring flower I see. I saw a house the other day that had an azalea (pinkish purple) next to a forsythia bush (bright yellow) next to some small tree that was just leafing out (bright green leaves), and if it wasn't on such a busy street, I would have stopped to photograph the color combination because it looked beautiful.

I'm kind of in love with our Cleveland Pear tree. It's only a few years old, and it's already ginormous. It has wonderful green leathery leaves and the white blossoms make it look like it's covered in snow. We walked by a restaurant in Ferndale last weekend, and they had twinkle lights on their pear trees, and at night, they totally looked snow covered.

Here are a few pics:

If you want to see some seriously beautiful TTV pictures of springy flowers, go check out my bud Alli's blog. Aren't her pics dreamy???

So back to my pear tree-- we had this tree planted in the right of way (which is the area between your property line and the street) by our City Forestry Department for a measly $150 or something which is really CHEAP especially since they do the planting in the right of way. Lots of municipalities especially in Michigan offer this type of thing, so check with your local Parks & Rec or Forestry division.

Speaking of Parks & Rec, do any of you watch the NBC show??? If you do, it is LITERALLY my job on TV. Well, I'm more Mark Brendanawicz (who's a city planner), but I think the writers should contact me because I could give them sooooooooo much material. :) If you haven't seen it, you can watch most of the eps on Hulu.

I love all the characters, especially Aziz Ansari's. Ryan's mind was almost blown when he heard AA would be starring in a movie with one of his other faves, Danny McBride AND it's being shot here in Michigan.

Ok, that's all kiddos. I hope your weekend isn't flying by like mine seems to be. Bleh. Plus, the weather isn't too great, so that's a bummer. Good news is that Ryan's taking Q to Jungle Java tomorrow morning (aka Lord of the Flies in a strip mall), and I don't have to go! Yippee!!!

Goings on in Girl Land

Stuff I'm liking as of late...

Jazzercise. I’ve been going at least 3 times per week and Sunday I went at 8:30 am (a real feat for me being the hater of early rising and exercising that I am). Are you sick of hearing about this yet? You don’t know how ecstatic I am to have found a form of exercise that I can not only endure but actually enjoy.

New Moon Trailer. Typically, huge muscles aren’t my thing, but WOW, Taylor. Just wow. Good thing the shirtless pics of Rob just came out because I might have been like, “Edward who?”.

MTV Movie Awards. Whatev, Eminem. Like you weren’t in on the Bruno thing. At first, I was unsure, but after watching it again, I am convinced. No such thing as bad publicity, right? It was a very Twilight night too which, of course, is always good. Rob in his disheveled glory and KStew in her awkward, award-dropping, finest. Other highlights were Andy Samberg’s naked opener and poor Leighton Meister who was accused of being a closet gas-passer. Good stuff.

Up. Q had her first successful full-length, in-the-theater, movie-watching experience. Ryan took her to see Up, and she was only slightly antsy towards the end. My big girl.

Challenges. Work is having a weight loss challenge and Jazzercise is having an attendance challenge. I’m all over both. I had a dream I had Charlize Theron’s body last night. Ok, ok—a *bit* of a stretch, but an inspiration nonetheless. I’m feeling healthier and stronger every day. Weight loss has been consistent albeit slow, however, I can tell I’m feeling more tone for sure. Check my left sidebar for progress! I’m thinking I need to start documenting my measurements.

Glee. Have you seen this show??? Must watch it now!!! I’m in total and utter love. I’ve watched it three times now. Cutest thing ever. We’ve all had “Don’t Stop Believin’” stuck in our heads all weekend. Q keeps asking me to sing this line to her, “He took the midnight train going anywhere…” Bummed we have to wait until the fall to see more.

Alone Time. This weekend, Ryan is taking the girls to see my in-laws. And he told me I could stay home. It’s about 30 hours to myself (ahhh, heaven), but I’m planning my time wisely. I currently have a massage scheduled and flea marketing with Amy too. So far, so good!

Girl Land Summer Mix 2009. Starting my annual compilation! I can’t promise you there will be all high-quality songs (I can forewarn you that there will be a Britney tune), but hopefully I don’t lose the small amount of credibility I may have. A good mix, I say. Perhaps some new Camera Obscura, The Dirty Projectors, Bat for Lashes, etc. Shall be coming within the next couple weeks. Holding your breath, no?

Power the Librarian. My friend's son made this movie for a contest to win some money for my hometown library. That's his sister, Jessamy, in the film. And I THINK it may be Zac himself as the freaky Power dude. Leave a comment and tell the judges how deserving they would be of the prize money!!!

Are we glad Monday's over? Yes! Do we hate Tuesdays even MORE than Mondays? Yes! Boooo. xo

Jazz Hands

I'm sooooooooooooo excited!!!! I'm actually LIKING exercise lately what with the Wii Fit and my newest obsession. Can you guess? I'll give you a hint...I might have to buy this from Every Little Count's Etsy shop to wear to class:

It's Jazzercise! It's soooo entirely fun. I was actually looking forward to class today (what the frig?). Their new building is just 5 minutes from my house too. I had no idea what to expect, but I looked on the Jazzercise website, and figured out it's basically aerobics but kinda more dancey. The songs are all newer REAL songs (sung by the real people), and it's so fun. I was sold when they started playing Untouched by The Veronicas (I love that song!). Plus, I'm getting to know a new friend which is always nice.

Other tidbits from this week

-I've been getting an Etsy package like every day! Today it was a bib for V's party Saturday (pic to come Saturday) and another from my newest Etsy obsession, Retro NaNa. Hold onto your hats-- I seriously almost hyperventilated over all the cuteness. Look at just a few things that I bought!

Those CD labels are beautiful. I don't know if I will ever be able to part with them.

-Wide Awake Chapter 49 is up!!!! Some very good/funny parts. I'm patiently waiting for the unavoidable smut. She has to take us out on a smutty note. Too much angst, not enough dirty stuff. No, but in all seriousness, I love love LOVE the story so much. So sad there is only 1 chappy to go + epilogue. Boooooooo.

-Lost was sooooooooooooooooo good tonight! Although I'm sad. Can't say any more...I cried. I admit it.

-Preparing for Viv's party this weekend. The 'rents are coming early to help me around the house and to help me with my YARD which looks horrendous.

Happy Hump Day, y'all! xo

Lost Blathering

After tonight's episode of Lost, I wonder what the frig people think when they are just tuning in or are trying to figure out what the eff is going on. Personally, I lu-huvvvvv the show.

And I've mentioned before my obsession with Josh Holloway. Tonight's ep was particularly indulgent in that regard. I just want to run my hand through that greasy hair of his. Ahhhhhh.

The big highlight of tonight's ep included *SPOILER!!!* poor Juliet yet again getting Kate's sloppy seconds and the birth of a baby who I think is going to be someone important or who we already know??? Hmmmmm. Also, the appearance by Kevin Rankin who played one of the meathead Dharma dudes at the beginning. Kevin Rankin played Lucien on one of my favorite all time shows, Undeclared.

I've been reading Lostpedia for the past hour or so, and now I'm obsessed. It's fun to read all the crazy stuff I didn't remember from previous episodes. My fave bit o' trivia: Carrie Preston who plays Arlene from True Blood was in one episode as Benjamin's mother (remember, she died during childbirth?). She and Michael Emerson (who plays Ben) are married in real life! I love finding weird things like that. Ok, off to bed.

2009 Oscar Rant

This is the first year in many that I actually stayed up to watch the ENTIRE Oscars. I usually Tivo and watch later. I was a little behind because I recorded the E! Red Carpet stuff and started watching at 8, but I caught up right around Best Actress. Love DVR’ing stuff like that, so I can whiz through junk like the Jerry Lewis thing (snooooooze).

My thoughts (feel free to chime in or wholeheartedly disagree):

+I hate admitting that my favorite dress belonged to Miley Cyrus (barfaloney). I’m obviously all about teenybopper stuff (*cough* Twilight), but I don’t care for her atttttt alllllll. Her dress, however, was gorgeous. The petal things on the skirt??? That tiny little waist of hers? I loved it.

+Other dresses I loved: Heidi Klum (always perfect), the SJP (in “barely mint”), Kate Winslet (the hair!), and Natalie Portman (her dress was a beautiful raspberry sherbet but her skin had a not-so-great orange sherbet hue to it).

+I love my self-deprecating Robert Pattinson.

-Was bummed that no one looked super horrible. Well, except Mickey Rourke with his dumb dog necklace and Sophia Loren at the end. Yikes! I admire that she hasn’t had much work done—really I do. But I think they should have picked out a dress and makeup color that softened her up a bit. She’s still awesome though.

-Not awesome was Goldie Hawn's refusal to get old and her blatant love of plastic surgery.

-Poor SJP slipped and Daniel Craig did NOT offer his arm. Now Daniel, WWJBD?

-Wasn’t a big fan of Beyonce’s black and gold dress, Reese’s black and blue number (with the clear plastic straps showing), or Amy Adam’s big honkin’ necklace.

+Sean Penn’s speech was AWESOME!!! So well-put. My favorite part: “I think it is a good time for those who voted for the ban on gay marriages to sit and reflect and anticipate the shame and disgrace in their grandchildren's eyes if they continue in this way to support [the ban].” However…

-“I was bummed he didn’t thank Robin. She was blubbering in the front row, man, right there! C’mon!

+The pale skin. I thought Anne Hathaway, Amy Adams, and Evan Rachel Wood looked lovely sans the fake orange tan.

-Beyonce lip syncing. If Hugh and Anne could sing live, and they’re not even professional singers, WTF?

+I loved the way they introduced the best actress/actor nominees with the one-on-one comments from their peers. I was getting verklempt for Viola Davis and Anne Hathaway myself! What wonderful things to hear from seasoned vets.

+Ben Stiller’s version of Joaquin.

+/-I will not say anything critical about the Heath Ledger thing. I will reserve judgment until after I watch Dark Knight which has been on my Tivo for 2 months.

+The unapologetically (is that a word?) immature Pineapple Express dudes. And Janusz Kaminski hanging out with the two with his head rested lovingly on SG’s breast. I like that Kaminski guy even better this morning when I read that he was the Director of Photography for the movie Cool As Ice. Cool As Ice just happened to be my movie of choice if I had a hangover during my college years. What?? It was comforting!!!! :)

So what say you?

We Want the Funk

I left my camera at the hospital while visiting Baby Ronin (crap). Thus, no pics. So another good commercial.

On a completely separate topic, my husband just tried to get Q to take a bite out of a raw onion telling her it was an apple (nice dad). She politely declined stating matter of factly, "No thank you...that's an onion."

I'm Hooked

Like I need to spend more time in front of the TV. True Blood was great!

'Bout Dang Time

Finally, Q will let me put things in her hair. I think it annoys her daycare ladies that her hair is always in her face. I picked her up last week, and she had two barrettes in. I said, "How'd you do that?", they said, "We just told her she couldn't take them out. Period." Hmmmm...novel idea. Don't know if it's a fad, but just in case, I made her some of these.
Off to watch the new HBO vampire series True Blood with Anna Paquin (is being Tivo'd)! Just what I need, more boob tube. Have loved AP since X-Men. Rogue is such a hottie, but what a sucky power, eh?

Let's Get Rowdy

I just saw this commercial on TV, and I kept rewinding my Tivo. So great!!!!

More SYTYCD

This is going to be a boring post for you non-watchers out there. For my fellow obsessed watchers, however, I have to get my two cents in. And my prediction for the Top 4 out there.

Yesterday's re-partnering really brought some dancers down and lifted others up. I now think the top 4 will be: Joshua, Katee, Will, and Chelsie. I thought Kherington and Mark were a train wreck this week. Damn that country two step, but that was just downright painful to watch.

Here is the order that I think they SHOULD be eliminated:

1. Comfort and Twitch
2. Kherington and Mark
3. Courtney and Gev

Winner being Joshua

Here's how I'm pretty sure it will go down:

1. Comfort and Mark
2. Courtney and Gev
3. Kherington and Twitch

Winner being Katee. I just hope Will doesn't get it. I think he's cocky and his choice in solo songs are cheese-licious in a horribly bad way (Dance with My Father by Luther Vandross??????). Well, we'll see what happens tonight!!!

*****Edit: Wow!!! Didn't see that coming!!! Wasn't a big Kherington fan, but I thought people lu-huved her. Au revoir, my cutie pie Gev Manoukian!!!! :( I'm so sad. So I now think next week will eliminate Comfort & Mark and the following week Courtney & Twitch.

Christmas in July!

Merry Xmas to me! I've been going crazy with internet shopping. Every day is Christmas as I get a package ALMOST every day. The hub has been none too pleased. Unfortunately, our mail comes really late in the day, otherwise, I could get the mail and hide it (just kidding, Ryan....sort of...) :)

I bought some pink pom pom trim from Ebay to make another pom trimmed lampshade for V's Jack & Jill lamp. Don't know why I didn't think to check Joann's since I was just there. Duh. Anywho, I received it and it was like NEON pink, not the nice medium pink as shown in the listing (the seller blamed my monitor). Urgly. So I stuck it in a bowl with some bleach and went to meet my friend, Babs, for lunch. Came back, and it was much better. Was a little on the raspberry pink side (as opposed to peach pink), but still a vast improvement. Here is the before and after.

Also, received all my supplies to make this lovey!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the keyfob instructions here. So easy to make. I didn't stitch them because my ribbon (isn't it so cute!??) was a bit thinner than the instructions showed, but I got the heavy duty Heat N Bond, and it's not going anywhere. Another stocking stuffer idea in case I get into DUCF, but this one's MINE!!!!!

Next up is this mushroom ribbon (which matches V's blankie!!!) on white webbing. I really REALLY love these fobs! I didn't know I needed one till I saw that ribbon.

On the boob tube front, Jessica injured herself on SYTYCD I read, so Comfort's back. Yayyyy...well yay for Comfort back and Jessica gone but not yay that she hurt herself. Haven't watched the show yet tonight because I'm craftin', and I have to have all my attention on it.

I have also decided to boycott Ghost Hunters International. No Jay or Grant, no Steve Gonsalves??? No Tango???? Only that annoying Brian, Andy Andrews who drives me slowly insane, and Robb. Anybody named Rob who spells is name with two B's is by default a d-bag. No joke.

I Less Than Three...

♥ Midas Muffler at Woodward & 14 Mile Rd. My VW Dealership sucked $700 from me two weeks ago after my car seemed to have a coolant leak. They told me there was something wrong with my exhaust downpipe too to a tune of another $600. I said forget it-- took it to Midas and they fixed the prob for $33. If you live in this area and have a VW, do NOT go to Suburban Volkswagen. This isn't the first time they've screwed me over.

♥My new glue gun! From HOBBY LOBBY! I received a gift cert from my SIL for my bday and got a whole 15 minutes to shop (we thought they closed at 9 but they closed at 8). It's deluxe, baby-- cordless and high heat!

♥This scrapbook paper from HOBBY LOBBY. I used it to line the inside of Q's new record case. Before and after pics!

♥My baby. And this mushroom onesie from Sweet Jessie. She has been sleeping 8 hours straight these days. To quote my grandmother, "God love 'er."

♥The TV Gods. They are bringing back Sara on Prison Break!!!! I stopped watching after her head showed up in a box a la Seven. But now that she's coming back, I had to read the episode recaps online to get caught up. Gotta get ready to get my Wentworth on!

♥Michelle, our cleaning lady. Yes, we have one. It's my one splurge. Otherwise, we'd be living in squalor. She just left, and the place is Pine-Sol-riffic. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

♥My new Bobbi Brown lipstick called Tulle. I love it soooooooo much.

Have a great weekend, all!!! xoxo

More Estate Sale Stuff, More SYTYCD...

Vivi's my good luck charm! Well, it wasn't the score of the century like last time, but still some cute stuff including this:

The other few things are up in my shop. Wow, this little treasure already sold!

Didn't I say that I was supposed to be getting back to making stuff that I used to make? I'm now spending my time thrifting, estate saling, flea marketing, etc. I think it's because I realize I only have 3.5 more weeks left of maternity leave, and I will have no time to do it then. I guess I'm trying to get it out of my system. I have applied to DUCF though, and I'm so glad it's a holiday show this year. If I make it in, it will definitely get me off my arse. I have sooooo many supplies. Now I just have to make the dang stuff!!!!

So down to SYTYCD business. I think my new favorite couple is Courtney and Gev!!! I have a pretty massive crush on Gev all of a sudden. I think it was after his rhumba last week and his great solo last week. Whoooooo! I found this awesome rhumba remix on youtube with a Portishead song. Loves me some Portishead!!!!!!!!!
Am I talking to myself with this stuff? Is there anyone else out there that watches??? I still can't stand Jessica, and I'm still not a big Will fan even after their good Adam and Eve dance. But I'm thinking Comfort will be going home from the girls. And probably Thayne which is unfortunate.

Mia Michaels told Courtney and Gev they weren't the best dancers on the show, which may be true. But isn't the title "America's Favorite Dancer"? Not "America's BEST Dancer"? That's why Travis didn't win in Season 2. His personality was bleh. Anywho, I still love Joshua, but Gevney is a close second. :)

More boob tube talk-- I actually have to Tivo SYTYCD because Ryan makes me watch Ghost Hunters which conflicts. We are obsessed. It's like comforting or something-- our little routine. I love Jay, Grant, Steve, and DAVE TANGO! Especially when he did magic to make the ghosts come out. Classic. Apparently, he used to peform magic. How can you not like someone who performs magic???

Oh the Horror

You may know of my love of the horror genre. I am a nut over all things creepy & scary. My favorite movie of all time is 28 Days Later (followed verrrrry closely by A Patch of Blue with Sidney Poitier and To Kill a Mockingbird).

So in addition to my brother's Fangoria magazines, there is one particularly cheesy video from 1986 to which I can attribute my infatuation. Scared the bejesus out of me at the time-- mainly the part where they find the bodies. Now it scares me for a whole set of different reasons (eesh, the 80s are scary in their own right). Anyone remember this one-hit wonder?

A couple more things are making me giddy. NBC's new show on Thursday nights called Fear Itself. Each week is a mini movie from different horror directors/writers. I must say, it was pretty good.

Also, I think I mentioned I watched Season 1 of Dexter which was on CBS. Well, I couldn't wait for Season 2 to be released on DVD in August, so I downloaded all the episodes on Amazon Unbox and watched all 12 in like 3-1/2 days. SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. Pam, you were right! It was great.

Oh, also Ryan bought me The Orphanage for Mother's Day. Niiiiice, right?

Can't wait to see M. Night's new one too. Not so much horror, but creepy nonetheless.

Random (Non-Crafty) Tids & Bits

-When Ryan called me this morning to say he’d been in a car accident, I was going to kill him because I thought it was April Fools. It wasn’t! Luckily, he’s ok (back’s a little sore), but his poor car is not. Sounds like it was equal fault, so I’m a tad worried about our insurance going up, but at least it wasn’t more serious. I’m thanking my lucky stars, believe me.

+My dear friend, Amy, is being induced as we speak! Poor girl is a week past her due date. The suspense is killing me. She doesn’t know girl or boy. Either way, I’m going to make her one of these.

-My neighbor’s (BIG) shed is about to blow over into our yard. I want to call Code Enforcement, but he’ll know it’s me. When he moved in, I told him I used to call Code Enforcement on the previous owner all the time (he was an old, mean drunk, and let his grass grow to be 2 feet tall). And I don’t think I should have to ASK him to fix the problem. Fer cryin’ out loud!

+New Kids on the Block are going to be on the Today Show Friday at 7:00 am. Set your Tivos! My mom is convinced it’s going to be embarrassing. We shall see.

+We don’t owe a ton on our taxes (sigh of relief). I was worried because this year Ryan is a shareholder in his company, and we’d paid estimated taxes throughout the year.
Wasn’t sure I’d estimated enough. This is the first year I haven’t done Turbo Tax, and we actually hired an accountant. I love the man. Next, paying off all our credit card debt! Whoo hoo!

+Another man I love? The NPH. Nuff said.

-We saw I Am Legend this past weekend. Was so disappointed! The 1954 book was about vampires, so I thought I’d get my Dracula on. The new interpretation was a really BAD rip off of 28 Days Later (which is quite possibly my favorite movie of all time, so don’t even try to mess with it). Plus, the CGI zombies and animals were soooooo fake- looking. Gads.

+Maroon 5 & Counting Crows are coming to town in August! Battle of the Adams!

?Justin and Madonna have a new song out together called 4 Minutes. Not sure how I feel about it quite yet…

?Trying to decide when I want to be done with work. My c-section is scheduled for Thurs, May 1. Should I work up until the end? Or should I take a few days to relax and hang out with Q??? Help me out, kids!!!

Ok, sorry for the wordy (=boring) post. That’s just me in a nutshell for now. Hope you’re all having a great week! xo

Loves Me Some Alchemy!

Gawd, as if I'm not a big enough Etsy addict, I could be on Alchemy alllll dayyyyy longgggg. I posted my first request today since Alchemy's long-awaited return. I've been looking for a few random things for Q's room-- the biggest of which was a wall clock. So I made up a request! It looked like this.

I accepted the bid of a super cool shop, Trixieandradar. How have I not stumbled upon their shop before???? Look at some of their wares!

Anywho, they are going to do a custom clock for me. Red/white polka dot background with woodland animals, stumps, mushrooms, moss, stuff like that. Doesn't that sound poifect?

Well, it's almost 3am, and I cannot sleep. I went to bed at 11, but tonight is the 4th night in a row that Q has decided to get up in the middle of the night. I can't fall back asleep to save my life!

In other fun news, Jessie is having a blog giveaway for her 250th post! You can enter here. Be on the lookout as I am nearing my 200th post as well...therefore, I foresee a Girl Land giveaway as well!

Ok, all, have a wonderful rest of the weekend. We've rented La Vie En Rose to watch tomorrow night-- gotsta love the Edith Piaf. Hopefully it will be better than In the Wild that we watched tonight. I knew I'd hate it, so I messed around on the computer and read my new Martha while Ryan watched. I can't believe the dude had such a cult following. He was a bit of a self-indulgent prick. But I enjoyed the ending immensely. That was mean, sorry.
Other highlights of the weekend will be seeing my parents, Jonah Hill on SNL and Ryan cooking up his annual corned beef and cabbage. Even though he's now a self-proclaimed pescetarian (that's a whole 'nother story).

BA on MS!

I am sure most of my crafty cohorts know that Emily Martin of The Black Apple is going to be on Martha on March 11. My Tivo is set and ready to go! But since I know some of my non-crafting friends and family read my blog, you must know that I would consider her to be one of biggest crafting heroes. Others being this sweet lady who inspired me to open my Etsy shop and of course, Miss Stewart herself. But I digress.

Emily's success with Etsy is crazy! Over 12,000 items sold, and she makes her living at it. I do think it's nice that she still pens personal little notes in her packages and writes you the occasional email when you comment on her blog. Here are just a few little things around our house that have been created by Emily.

Mama and Baby Dunce Dolls in my craft room:

A Bandit Hedgie Tee for Quinn (won't fit her for awhile):

Wee House Stationery:

And my very first Etsy purchases (made about a year and a half ago) now in Q's toddler room!

And a few of you sweeties have asked to see Q's room. I'm a little embarrassed of it right now. The whole theme was to be pink & red and enchanted foresty. No fairies, but mushrooms, looming trees, hedgehogs, and gnomes. Welllll, I'm waiting on the quilt and I'm hoping that it pulls everything together because right now I'm feeling like my vision is not turning out as I'd hoped. I still need the perfect clock and curtains, but I may wait until after the quilt is on the bed. Thinking just plain swiss dot curtains with light blocking shades underneath, but not sure of that either.

Also, wanted to share with you this little ditty. I found the first mix CD I ever made, and Q and I were rockin' out to it on the way to lunch with my cousin this morning. I love this song by Fleming & John! I particularly like the lines "Does she tell you want you want to hear? And I bet that she could grow a beard. I'd feel better thinking you were queer..." Sigh. What a sweet song.

Hope y'all survived Monday. I'm off to eat dinner...lobster bisque and yeast dinner rolls homemade by...NOT ME-- Westborn Market, actually. :) xo

Red Shoes Surprise

I was so excited to find out that I won Catherine’s bloggy contest yesterday! What a nice surprise on an otherwise dreadful Monday. Her shop, Red Shoes, is so stinking cute—you must visit! I can’t wait to get my care package from her shortly. I will be sure to post lotsa pics after I do. Speaking of red shoes, look at this cute lil' bag I found on Etsy today. No affilitation with THE Red Shoes, but soooo cute nonetheless.

As an aside, I have to apologize about my lack of crafty posts as of late. I totally have crafter’s block (I have lost my crafting mojo, if you will), and I don’t know how to get it back! Perhaps this is due to the impending arrival of Miss Vivian (yep, she’s Vivian for sure) in NINE WEEKS. Eek! I’d just rather spend my (post-Q’s bedtime) nights vegging, gabbing on the phone, and honing my TV-watching skills.

Ahhhhh, Ye Olde Boob Tube. I just started watching Dexter. I wanted to see this when it first came out, but I didn’t want to order Showtime for one stinkin’ show (we already have a zillion movie channels). I was trying to figure out how you could get an audience to sympathize with a serial killer, but they do a great job. Michael C. Hall from 6 Feet Under is very appealing and likeable, really! It’s on CBS from 10-11pm EST on Sunday nights. I can’t make it that late anymore, so I Tivo. Definitely worth watching—interesting and actually kinda funny. And it’s only on Episode 3, so read the recaps for Episodes 1 & 2, and jump on in with me, won’t ya?
